France’s largest Meissl umbrella is now in Meribel in the department of Savoy of the Rhone-Alps. The huge structure of Le Rond Meribel measures 14 x 12 meters and covers almost 170 square meters! Connected with this is the all-round glass weather protection, so that the large terrace can now be used for events no matter what the weather. Because “Ronnie”, as it is called in the region, is rocking seven days a week with live bands and DJs. And of course, when the weather is fine, it serves as a sun trap for ski-in-ski-out, right on the slopes. Although Ronnie is famous as the largest après ski bar in France, there is no shortage of food. At lunchtime, the in-house restaurant offers select, freshly prepared specialties, which of course are also served on the terrace – no matter what the weather. Incidentally, construction of the giant umbrella was also record-breaking.
In spite of stormy weather, a stable foundation was cast for the sturdy stand and even a 100-tonne mobile crane was arranged to setup and fix the center column.
