Whistler Blackcomb is one of the biggest ski resorts in North America. The Meissl umbrella bar there is a popular meeting place, but it did require technical excellence. This important winter sports center in British Columbia, north of Vancouver, was one of the venues for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Whistler is a chalet-style pedestrian village that attracts countless tourists during summer too. Peak-to-peak cable cars connect the valleys and are highly popular. The Meissl umbrella bar with a 12 meter umbrella has proven to be a successful drawing point in this active hub. However, we had to meet the extraordinary requirements of the strict Canadian registration authorities: we had to secure against wind speeds of up to 145 km/h and a snow load of up to one meter for this location. And this was in addition to the complicated transport of all the components to this fascinating landscape.
