Fish has always played a major role in the East Frisian Carolinesiel on the North Sea coast. Since 1977, the Albrecht fish and deli shop has been one of the most famous and popular attractions for fish lovers. When the founder, Johann Albrecht, retired from the business in 1991, his daughter Gudrun Albrecht and Henry Aden founded the coastal smokehouse Küsten-Räucherei Joh. Albrecht GmbH; in the meantime, they are counting on a third generation of management with Gudrun Albrecht’s eldest son.
On a 25-meter counter, delicacies freshly caught from the sea or even smoked are presented in the best light and can also be enjoyed right away in the attached restaurant. But it is important to the boss that not only fish lovers feast here, and a diverse range of meatless and even vegetarian specialties are offered for persuaded pescetarians – vegetarians who eat fish.
Quality and freshness are also a top priority, since this is the best way to win people over! With the newly designed “Wattkieker” restaurant, this philosophy is now implemented right in front of the dike. According to Gudrun Albrecht, on a clear day you can even see the islands of Spiekeroog, Wangerooge and Langeoog in the Wadden Sea.
The highlight of the large terrace with a great view of the lake is “Sturmfrei”, a modern umbrella with futuristic lighting and traditional touches, which also guarantees extended pleasure on days when it is not so sunny.
