For the first time since statistics have been kept, soft drinks such as Coca Cola that are so popular in America have fallen out of favor with US citizens. The new favorite and narrow winner is now mineral water with 149 liters of consumption per person (soft drinks 146 liters). The change is clear in comparison to 2006, when the drinks, which are mostly high in sugar content, were clearly ahead of the market at 185 liters per consumer (mineral water 108 liters). Experts see the reason for this in the growing health consciousness and the increasing water pollution in many regions of the USA. However, the major soft drink companies are still keeping ahead of this trend, as they are also the largest suppliers of mineral water. The American market leader is the Swiss multinational company Nestlé with over 23% of the market. I wonder if Donald Trump likes this?
