A solution to the lack of staff in the hospitality industry? A restaurant has now opened In San Francisco in which hamburgers are made fully automatically. In the “creation” of inventor Alex Vardakostas, two machines about four meters long produce the burgers on an assembly line. After ordering by app, a robot cuts, toasts and coats the buns with butter, then automatically follows with sauce, freshly cut tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. A special feature is the ground meat, which a second robot with a highly specialized gripper arm smoothly presses into the typical shape – as gently as hardly any human employee would manage. Heat sensors then ensure that the meat is fried as desired: medium or well-done. The finished product costs 6 dollars. And 120 of these automated delicacies can be fried per hour – and they are supposed to taste good too!
