Film tip: À la Carte! - The way to freedom is through the stomach

Industry

The ultimate film eye candy for the holidays is a (typical) French comedy for all those who love to eat and are interested in how, loosely based on a true incident, the first restaurant in France came into being.

France, 18th century: The prestige of a noble house depends above all on the quality of what is on its table. At the beginning of the French Revolution, gastronomy is still a prerogative of the aristocrats. When the talented chef Manceron is dismissed by the Duke of Chamfort, he loses his motivation for cooking. Back at his country home, an encounter with the mysterious Louise brings him back on his feet. While they both harbour a desire for revenge against the Duke, they decide to found the very first restaurant in France.*
