Reading tip – an approach that brings you (even) closer to nature

Industry

Ever heard of biophilic design? It describes the idea of integrating natural elements and organic materials into built environments. A concept explored by New York Times bestselling author Abi Daré in her new book “Bring the Outside In: Biophilic Design for a Naturally Beautiful Home” – and one that brings people (even) closer to nature.

We love being outdoors. Time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, lower heart rate, and support mental recovery, while also boosting focus, creativity, and overall wellbeing. To be honest, we would probably spend every day outside if we could.

A beautiful idea, though not always realistic in everyday life. That’s why Abi Daré’s book – and the broader idea of biophilic design – resonates so strongly with us.

At its core, the concept is simple: bringing nature back into our built world. Not as decoration, but as a guiding design principle. Creating spaces that respond to our innate connection with nature – through natural light, organic forms, plants, water, wood, stone, and views of greenery.

In a time when many of us spend most of our day indoors, biophilic design feels like a gentle counterbalance. Good design here is not only about function and aesthetics, but also about liveliness – architecture that breathes, that can be felt, and that reconnects us with the natural world. An idea that speaks not only to us as a company, but above all to us as people. And one we wanted to share with you as we head into early summer.

Happy reading!
